Mental Health Early Warning Signs

Developed by the MN School Social Workers Association, mental health professionals, this course offers information relating to mental health early warning signs needed for Minnesota teacher/educator licensure.

Course objectives:

1. To obtain a greater understanding of how mental health disorders affect students' learning capacities.

2. Learn how trauma impacts a student's overall functioning.

3. To identify key warning signs and symptoms of children's mental health disorders.

4. Identify several key interventions for various children's mental health disorders and concerning behaviors.

MSSWA created this tool as a way to increase educator access to materials to meet the continuing education requirement of clock hour(s) in Ealry Warning Signs of Mental Health Disorders in Children and Adolescents. It is understood that local Continuing Education Committees have authority to determine what professional development meets this requirement.
